CATEGORY C
Rigid Truck Licence
The Category C licence allows you to drive rigid vehicles over 3,500kg
with a trailer up to 750kg.
This licence is ideal for careers in logistics, delivery services,
construction, waste collection and commercial transport throughout Ireland.

CATEGORY CE
Articulated Truck & Trailer
The Category CE licence permits you to drive articulated trucks
and rigid vehicles with trailers over 750kg.
This is the highest truck licence category and significantly increases
employment opportunities within Ireland and across Europe, particularly
in long-haul and specialist transport roles.

BEFORE YOU START
Requirements for Category C & CE
To begin training for Category C or CE in Ireland,
you must meet the following requirements.
Valid Irish Driving Licence
Hold a valid Irish driving licence.
Driver Theory Test
Pass the relevant Driver Theory Test for trucks.
Learner Permit
Obtain the relevant Category C or CE Learner Permit.
D501 Medical Report
Complete the required D501 medical report.
Driver CPC
Hold a valid Driver CPC qualification if driving professionally.
